The short answer

Most people searching for an OpusClip alternative hit the same three walls: monthly credits that expire after 60 days, a bill that runs on upload length rather than on the clips you keep, and a Starter plan that posts to only three platforms in one aspect ratio. Cliphi removes all three. OpusClip still wins if your workflow needs AI B-roll or a Premiere or DaVinci timeline export.

Pick Cliphi if

  • You publish several clips per video and want the bill tied to output, not upload length.
  • You want credits that never expire, on any plan.
  • You clip livestreams while they are live, or record reactions over clips.
  • You want 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 on the entry plan, not only on Pro.

Pick OpusClip if

  • You rely on AI B-roll insertion.
  • You finish clips in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve and need a timeline export.
  • You need a team workspace (OpusClip Pro allows up to four users).

Why people leave OpusClip

Read from OpusClip's own help center and pricing page. The complaints are about the meter and the timers, not about the clips.

Credits expire

Monthly-plan credits expire 60 days after they are issued, yearly credits after 12 months, and credits left after a cancellation keep their original date. A quiet month cannot bank credits for a busy one.

Projects are deleted

Free-plan projects expire 3 days after creation, Starter and Pro projects after 30, and expired projects cannot be recovered. Pro users can keep them by paying for cloud storage. Cliphi stores projects for 30 days too, so this one only separates the tools on OpusClip's Free tier.

The entry plans are boxed in

Free and Starter post to YouTube, TikTok and Instagram only; X, Facebook, LinkedIn and scheduling start at Pro. Only Pro can output 16:9 and 1:1 alongside 9:16.

Starter is monthly-only and dear

$15 for 150 minutes is 10 cents per uploaded minute, whether or not any clip from that minute is worth posting. There is no yearly price for Starter.

Long streams eat the plan

One credit per imported minute means a single 6-hour stream is 360 credits, more than Pro's 300 a month, before a clip exists. Real-time clipping is not on the plan list.

Reviews say the same

On Trustpilot as of September 14, 2026, OpusClip scores 4.0 from 491 reviews with 20 percent one-star; the recurring themes are support response time, upload failures and credits that expire.

Credits that do not expire

OpusClip's help center: monthly-plan credits expire after 60 days, yearly after 12 months, and credits left after a cancellation keep their original expiry. Cliphi credits roll over indefinitely and survive cancelling.

Every feature, every plan

On OpusClip, 16:9 and 1:1 output, posting to X and Facebook, scheduling, Premiere export and team seats all start at Pro. Cliphi's $4.99 plan renders the same clips as the $29.99 one.

Six platforms on every plan

Cliphi publishes to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads and X from the clip card on the $4.99 plan, with the post copy written. On OpusClip, X, Facebook, LinkedIn and scheduling start at Pro.

Livestreams and reactions

Paste a live YouTube, Twitch or Kick stream and clips arrive before it ends. Record your face or voice over any clip. Neither is on OpusClip's plan list.

What switching to Cliphi looks like

  1. 1

Paste the same video you would give OpusClip

A YouTube link, a Twitch or Kick VOD, a podcast episode, or an upload. Livestreams work while they are still live.

  2. 2

Pick from the moments Cliphi found

Every moment comes back scored, framed to the speaker, captioned and set to music. You choose which ones to render, so credits go to clips you will actually post.

  3. 3

    Download or publish

Save the finished clips or push them to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads or X from inside Cliphi. Post copy and hashtags are written for you.

What OpusClip costs in 2026

How Cliphi bills the same video

Cliphi charges one credit per minute of source video to process it, on any plan, and a quarter of a credit per second of finished clip to render it. You see every moment scored and framed before you render, so rendering credits only go to clips you will post. Every plan has every feature; plans differ only in monthly credits ($4.99 for 1,200, $9.99 for 2,500, $29.99 for 8,500 outside India). Unused credits roll into next month and stay in your account after a cancellation. One-time packs never expire.

A 60-minute podcast with ten 45-second clips is 60 credits to process and about 112 to render, so roughly 172 credits: about 69 cents on the $9.99 plan. The same hour is $6.00 of OpusClip Starter or $3.89 of Pro billed yearly, and that is before OpusClip's 60-day credit expiry costs you anything. Render 20 clips instead of 10 and Cliphi's number is about $1.14; the gap narrows and does not close. Here is what three common workloads cost each month.

Monthly workloadCliphiOpusClip
Weekly 1-hour podcast, 10 clips each (240 source minutes, 40 clips)690 credits; the $4.99 plan covers it (about $2.76 at the Starter rate)240 minutes is above Starter's 150, so Pro: $29, or $19.43 billed yearly
Four 6-hour streams, 8 clips each (1,440 minutes, 32 clips)1,800 credits; the $9.99 plan covers it (about $7.19 used)1,440 minutes is above Pro's 300 a month; Business, custom price
Twenty 20-minute videos, 3 clips each (400 minutes, 60 clips)850 credits; the $4.99 plan covers it (about $3.40)400 minutes is above Pro's 300 a month; Pro yearly's 3,600 up front lasts about nine months

Assumes 45-second clips (30 seconds for the daily case) with animated captions. Cliphi costs use the Starter rate of $9.99 for 2,500 credits. OpusClip figures use one credit per source minute. Checked September 14, 2026.

Where OpusClip is the better pick

If your edit depends on AI B-roll, OpusClip does that (three clips a month on Starter, more on Pro) and Cliphi does not. If you finish clips in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, OpusClip Pro exports a timeline and Cliphi exports a finished video. OpusClip Pro also has a team workspace for up to four users, 4K download, and a public API that its June 2026 blog posts say is included on the free trial and Pro. It is the larger, older product with a bigger template gallery. None of that is spin; it is on their pages and it is not on ours.

Where Cliphi is the better pick

Cliphi is built for people who post several clips per video and do not want a plan to decide what they can do. Every plan, from the $4.99 Explorer plan up, has speaker tracking, word-by-word captions, the music library, reactions, supercuts, publishing to six platforms and the agent API. Credits you do not use stay in your account. Livestreams are clipped while they are live, which is how the Kick to YouTube Shorts and Twitch to TikTok pages get used, and any clip can carry your camera or voice reaction on top.

How to switch from OpusClip

Because OpusClip deletes projects on a timer, do the first step before anything else.

  1. Download the OpusClip exports you still want. Starter and Pro projects are removed 30 days after creation; Free projects after 3 days.
  2. Paste the same source links into Cliphi. It processes from the original video, so there is nothing to export or migrate.
  3. Set your caption style, logo and colours once in Brand and presets; they apply to every clip after that.
  4. Connect the accounts you publish to (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X) so finished clips can go out from the clip card.
  5. Cancel OpusClip when its remaining credits are used, since they keep their expiry date after cancelling.

Which one should you pick

Pick Cliphi if you post several clips per video, want credits that keep, clip livestreams, make reaction content, or want a tool your AI assistant can drive. Pick OpusClip if B-roll, NLE export or a team workspace is part of the job. If your real requirement is 4K output or team seats and B-roll together, Vizard may fit better than either; if you take only a few clips from very long footage, Klap's per-clip pricing can be cheaper. The fastest test is the same in every case: paste one of your own videos and look at the clips that come back.

Frequently asked questions

For the same hour of video with 10 rendered clips, yes: about 69 cents on Cliphi's $9.99 plan against $6.00 on OpusClip Starter or $3.89 on OpusClip Pro billed yearly, using each vendor's own credit rules as of September 14, 2026. Cliphi also charges for rendering, so the more clips you render per video the closer the two get, but Cliphi stays lower at any realistic count.

Yes. OpusClip's help center says monthly-plan credits expire 60 days after they are issued and yearly credits after 12 months, and that credits left after a cancellation keep their original expiry date. Cliphi credits roll over and never expire, including after you cancel.

Projects expire 3 days after creation on the Free plan and 30 days after creation on Starter and Pro, and expired projects cannot be recovered. Pro users can keep projects in cloud storage. Cliphi also stores videos and clips for 30 days after creation, so on either tool, download what you want to keep.

The Explorer plan is $4.99 a month for 1,200 credits, with every feature included. A one-time $4.99 pack gives 1,000 credits with no subscription. Visitors in India see separate rupee pricing; the pricing page always shows the current numbers.

Yes. Paste a live YouTube, Twitch or Kick stream and Cliphi starts producing clips before the stream ends. OpusClip's pricing page mentions livestreaming as a use case but does not describe real-time clipping.

Two answers on OpusClip's own site as of September 14, 2026: its June 2026 blog posts say the API is publicly available and included on the free trial and Pro with no waitlist, while its help center plans article lists the API under Business. Cliphi's MCP server and OpenAPI schema are available on every plan.

AI B-roll insertion, timeline export to Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, 4K download and a team workspace, all on its Pro plan. Cliphi delivers finished 1080p clips, does not add B-roll, and accounts are individual.
