Cliphi is an AI-powered video editing platform that transforms YouTube videos into viral clips for social media. By using our service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Account Information

When you create an account via Clerk authentication, we collect your email address, username, and full name. This information is necessary to provide you with account access and personalized service.

Billing Information

Payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID to manage your subscription and credits, but we never store your credit card details. All payment information is encrypted and stored by Stripe.

Content Data

We process YouTube video URLs you provide, record video segments, generate transcripts, and create edited clips. This content is stored temporarily (for 7 days) to deliver our service and enable you to download your clips.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use Cliphi, including projects created, clips generated, credit usage, and feature interactions. This helps us improve our service and provide you with detailed usage analytics.

Social Media Connections

If you connect social media accounts (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok), we store OAuth tokens to enable publishing. These tokens are encrypted and used only to publish content on your behalf.

Google/YouTube User Data

When you connect your YouTube account, we access the following Google user data:

  • Your YouTube channel name, profile image, and subscriber count (via youtube.readonly scope)
  • Your Google account email and profile name (via userinfo.profile, userinfo.email scopes)
  • Permission to upload videos to your channel (via youtube.upload scope)

How we use this data: We use your channel information solely to display your connected channel in our dashboard and to publish clips you create to your YouTube channel on your behalf.

Storage: Your Google OAuth tokens are encrypted using industry-standard encryption and stored securely in our database.

Sharing: We do NOT share your Google user data with any third parties. Your data is used exclusively to provide our video publishing service.

Revocation: You can disconnect your YouTube account at any time from your account settings, which will delete your stored OAuth tokens.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain our video editing service
  • Process your videos and generate clips using AI
  • Manage your account, subscription, and billing
  • Publish content to your connected social media accounts
  • Track credit usage and provide usage analytics
  • Send service-related notifications and updates
  • Improve our service based on usage patterns
  • Provide customer support

4. Data Storage & Security

We take data security seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
  • Video Storage: Videos and clips are stored securely on Cloudflare R2 with encryption
  • Database: Account and usage data are stored in MongoDB Atlas with encryption
  • Authentication: Managed by Clerk with industry-standard security practices
  • Payment Security: All payment data is handled by Stripe (PCI DSS compliant)
  • OAuth Tokens: Social media tokens are encrypted before storage

5. Data Retention

We retain different types of data for varying periods:

  • Videos & Clips: Automatically deleted 7 days after creation. Download your content before it expires.
  • Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active
  • Billing Records: Retained for tax and legal compliance (typically 7 years)
  • Usage Logs: Retained for analytics and support purposes

When you delete your account, all associated data (except billing records required for legal compliance) is permanently deleted within 30 days.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted third-party services to operate Cliphi:

  • Clerk: Authentication and user management
  • Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management
  • Cloudflare R2: Video and clip storage
  • MongoDB Atlas: Database hosting
  • OpenAI: AI-powered video analysis and transcription
  • Google Gemini: AI-powered video analysis
  • YouTube/Google: OAuth authentication for YouTube publishing
  • Meta/Instagram: OAuth authentication for Instagram publishing
  • TikTok: OAuth authentication for TikTok publishing

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information in your account settings
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export: Download your videos and clips before the 7-day retention period expires
  • Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails (service emails cannot be opted out)
  • Portability: Request your data in a structured, commonly used format

8. Cookies & Tracking

Cliphi uses essential cookies necessary for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts. Authentication cookies are managed by Clerk and are essential for the service to function.

9. Children's Privacy

Cliphi is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Users

Cliphi operates globally. Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this privacy policy and applicable data protection laws, including GDPR for European users.
